Vicente del Bosque is unsure whether to attend an event to accept an award given out by Real Madrid for outstanding service.
Ex-Real Madrid boss unsure about award ceremony
Vicente del Bosque is still hurting about his exit from lifelong club Real Madrid in 2003 and may refuse to accept an award given out by the club for outstanding service.
The current Spain national team coach was axed by Florentino Perez on the same day that Madrid won the league title because a better looking trainer was allegedly wanted.
Now Del Bosque has been asked to return to the Santiago Bernabeu on 3rd November and receive the Medalla del Oro (Gold Medal) for his work and he is not sure that he wants to.
"Everyone has their own story, but I was 52 when I left and I felt really hurt and so did my family," he told
Cadena SER.
"If they told you that you were useless then you too would be hurt."
Unsure
Meeting the people that chose to axe him and criticise him eight years ago has left Del Bosque unsure about whether to attend the event that will see Rafael Nadal and Placido Domingo become honorary club members.
"I am uncomfortable about it," the coach continued. "I have not said if I am going to go or if I am not and the only one who knows is (former Real Madrid striker Emilio) Butragueno.
"Some people are talking when they know absolutely nothing."
Carlos Queiroz was deemed to be a more acceptable face for the club to build their 'Galactico' plan with when he joined from Manchester United but Madrid embarked on a four-year spell without a trophy.
