Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone says it’s all to play for after their 0-0 Champions League quarter-final draw with Real Madrid.

Goalkeeper Jan Oblak starred for the hosts in the first half as Carlo Ancelotti’s side dominated the opening 45 minutes but couldn’t find a way past the Slovenian shot-stopper, who denied Gareth Bale in a one-on-one in the early stages.

Atletico created a few chances of their own but couldn’t give themselves an advantage going into the second leg next week, but Simeone was pleased with the display shown by his side after the break.

"The tie is still open," he told reporters.

“In the first half the opponents were good. Oblak was great, especially in the chance for Bale which was the clearest opportunity.

"The best thing was the reaction we had. Any other team that had been damaged as we were in the first half would have ended up relenting, but in the second-half the game became much closer to what we had imagined at the start."

The reigning Spanish champions lie eight points behind Real Madrid in La Liga and a further two behind leaders Barcelona.

With their title defence seemingly over, the Champions League looks their only hope for silverware this season, and they will need to secure a win on the night when they travel to the Bernabeu on April 22, live on Sky Sports.
