Antoine Griezmann's superb strike levelled the match between Deportivo and Atletico Madrid

Antoine Griezmann saved Atletico Madrid from an embarrassing defeat against Deportivo with a stunning 25-yard strike.

The Frenchman took his chance in the second half and cancelled out Florin Andone's strike after 13 minutes to claw back a 1-1 draw as they lost ground in the La Liga title race.

With not much on, Greizmann burst into action with a quick one-two and the ball dropped nicely for him on his favoured left foot. The Deportivo goalkeeper was slightly off his line and Griezmann whipped a sensational effort over him from 25 yards.

The result leaves Atletico 11 points off Barcelona in top spot.

The game was overshadowed by Atletico foward Fernando Torres being stretchered off during after suffering a nasty head injury.

Having come off the substitutes' bench, Torres banged heads with Deportivo's Alex Bergantinos five minutes from time and stayed down after the incident.
