Keeper puts pen to paper on three-and-a-half-year contract
Atletico Madrid goalkeeper David De Gea has signed a new contract at the club until June 2013.
The 19-year-old Spanish stopper, who has recently been linked with a move to Premier League champions Manchester United, has started Atletico's last four matches in the Primera Division and the Copa del Rey.
De Gea made his debut earlier in the campaign when coming on for Roberto in the UEFA Champions League against Porto, and has gone from strength to strength since then.
"It's another step forward in my professional career," he said.
"I've spent all my sporting life at Atletico Madrid and for me it's an honour and a dream to be able to play in the first team having come up through the Rojiblanco youth system.
"Everything is happening very quickly, but my objective is to continue working as I've always done."
Atletico play Racing Santander in the Copa del Rey on Thursday at Vicente Calderon, before facing the same team twice in the league and the return leg.
