Real, Sevilla, Espanyol and Mallorca reach last 16

Real Madrid eased into the last 16 of the Copa del Rey with a 5-1 win over lowly Ponferradina to progress 7-1 on aggregate. A brace from Jose Callejon and goals from Nuri Sahin, Raphael Varane and Joselu helped lay on a comprehensive aggregate win. Barrera Acoran netted the third-tier side's goal. Also through are Real Mallorca, who turned around a 1-0 deficit from the first leg to beat Sporting Gijon 2-1. Having lost at home a week ago, it was a hard task for Joaquin Caparros' men, but they managed it thanks to an Alejandro Menendez Diaz own goal and a strike from Emilio Nsue 20 minutes from time. Espanyol did find things somewhat easier against Celta Vigo, winning 4-2 after a goalless first leg. Vladimir Weiss set them on their way and, by the time David Rodriquez netted a late brace for Celta, the tie was over thanks to home goals from Alvaro Vazquez, Sergio Garcia and a Hugo own goal. Elsewhere, Sevilla did what was required of them, beating San Roque 2-1 for an aggregate 3-1 victory. A double from Freddie Kanoute, one of which came from the spot, put the tie to bed, with Adrian getting a consolation.
