Sevilla and Malaga start the new season with wins

Sevilla opened the new Primera Liga season with a battling win over Getafe as Fabrice Olinga made a stunning start to his Malaga career. Goals from Federico Fazio and Alvaro Negredo secured a 2-1 home success for Sevilla as Getafe were restricted to a second-half consolation. The hosts took the lead past the half-hour mark when Fazio headed home a cross and Negredo doubled the lead two minutes later from the penalty spot after Jose Antonio Reyes was adjudged to have been fouled. Getafe pulled a goal back early in the second half when Alexis scored against his former club, but it was Sevilla who came closest to another goal when Ivan Rakitic struck the crossbar. Celta Vigo's return to the Primera Liga was ruined by 16-year-old Olinga as the substitute marked his Malaga debut with the winner in a 1-0 success at Balaidos. Enrique de Lucas had wasted a number of chances to take the lead for the hosts, back in the top flight after five years, as the former Chelsea midfielder was twice denied by fine saves from Will Caballero and also chipped wastefully wide when clean through on goal. Manuel Pellegrini's changes gave Malaga an extra gear and two of the subs combined for the goal seven minutes from time as Diego Buonanotte got to the byline and cut the ball back for Olinga to bundle into the empty net off his thigh. Celta should still have snatched a point in stoppage-time but Gustavo Cabral somehow smashed the ball against the crossbar when presented with an open goal to leave the Galicians empty-handed. Tomer Hemed scored at either end of the match to earn Mallorca a season-opening 2-1 win over Espanyol. The Israel international was on the spot after two minutes and then pounced on a stray ball with five remaining to render Mubarak Wakaso's equaliser worthless. His winner came after Michael Pereira's drive had come back off the bar, with the 25-year-old rewarded for showing better reactions than the visiting defence.
