Vigo win Placente race

Celta Vigo have clinched the signing of Diego Placente from Bayer Leverkusen.

The Argentinian international rejected the offer of a new deal at the BayArena in a bid to secure a move away from Germany.

Serie A side Roma had been interested, but Celta have won the race after the 28-year-old signed a three-year deal with the Spanish side.

Fernando Vazquez's outfit have just returned to the Primera Liga and the coach wants some top quality recruits to ensure they stay in the top flight.

Placente will pocket around ‚é¼1.2 million a year on his three-year deal at Celta.
