Juventus climbed to fifth in Serie A after winning 3-0 away at Palermo on Sunday.
Mario Mandzukic scored after 50 minutes and Stefano Sturaro and Simone Zaza added two more in the last two minutes as Max Allegri's side moved to within six points of leaders Inter Milan, who don't play until Monday.
Elsewhere, Roma suffered a shock 2-0 home defeat to Atalanta in a game that saw three men sent off.
Alejandro Daro Gomez put Atalanta in front just before half-time, then Roma saw Maicon sent off on 81 minutes, and German Denis netted the resulting penalty to put the game beyond the home side.
But the action did not end there, as Atalanta saw Guglielmo Stendardo and Alberto Grassi dismissed late on for second bookable offences.
Frosinone climbed out of the relegation zone after beating fellow strugglers Hellas Verona 3-2 at home.
Rafael was sent off for Hellas in the 19th minute, and Daniel Ciofani struck twice before Federico Dionisi added a third for Frosinone just after the break.
The away side fought back and scored two goals late on through Federico Viviani and Vangelis Moras, but Frosinone held on for the win.
Udinese also recorded a 3-2 win on Sunday in their victory at Chievo Verona.
The home side took the lead on 26 minutes through Alberto Paloschi, but Nicholas Frey put through his own net to level the scores at half-time.
Cyril Thereau then put Udinese ahead just after the break, before Roberto Inglese pulled Chievo level with 18 minutes to go.
But Thereau struck again in the 81st minute to secure all three points for Udinese.
Genoa saw Leonardo Pavoletti sent off after six minutes of their 2-1 defeat at home to Carpi, but took the lead two minutes later when Diogo Figueiras struck.
The extra man told in the second-half for Carpi, as Marco Borriello levelled after 58 minutes before Cristian Zaccardo struck the winner nine minutes before full-time.
And Lorenzo Tonelli scored the only goal after five minutes as Empoli beat Lazio 1-0.
