City misfit targeted by Serie A outfit
Lazio chairman Claudio Lotito has confirmed the club are interested in bringing Roque Santa Cruz to the Stadio Olimpico.
Manchester City striker Santa Cruz, 29, is well down the pecking order at Eastlands and has been widely tipped to leave the Premier League big-spenders before the end of the transfer window.
Lazio are thought to have tabled a €6million (£4.9m) bid for the Paraguay international, as they try and bolster their frontline for the new Serie A campaign.
Lotito revealed that Santa Cruz is an option for the Biancoceleste, but admits a deal has not yet been done.
"The speech for Santa Cruz is still open, but we are thinking in detail about some aspects," he told
lalaziosiamonoi.it.
"We will make the right assessments and decide soon. There are no alternatives to Santa Cruz, if we don't buy him, (Libor) Kozak remains."
Meanwhile, Lazio midfielder Cristian Ledesma has signed a new five-year contract with the club after lengthy negotiations.
Talks first began last summer but they broke down after the Argentinian asked for a 'big club' release clause in any new deal.
Lotito added: "Ledesma has renewed his contract and obviously we are all satisfied. Now we are going forward with our project."
