Chievo advance to next round

Chievo progressed to the fourth round of the Coppa Italia after sealing a 2-0 victory over Serie B outfit Sassuolo. Davide Mandelli opened the scoring for the hosts in Verona just before half-time but they were made to wait until late on before securing the win. Davide Moscardelli grabbed the vital second at Stadio Marc Antonio Bentegodi with just 10 minutes to go. There was another Serie A versus Serie B clash as Bari saw off the challenge of Torino 3-1 at San Nicola. Francesco Caputo opened the scoring in the fourth minute for the home side but the Turin-based outfit levelled with an own goal from Marco Rossi. After half-time Bari secured the win after a penalty from Alessandro Parisi and a Nico Pulzetti effort with 20 minutes remaining. On Wednesday Cesena were the only top-flight side to exit at the first hurdle, losing 3-1 at home to Novara. The top eight sides from last season will enter the competition in the last 16 in December.
