The defender's contract at Bundesliga side Wolfsburg runs out in the summer and all signs point to a January departure.
The German club have signalled an exit is on the cards after opting not to include the 29-year-old in their squad to face Mainz on Saturday.
The players agent Claudio Orlandini is confident an agreement between the two parties can be reached ahead of move in the next few days.
"At the beginning of next week the player will be in Turin. The affair is close to being done," Orlandini told
Ansa.
"There are only a few details to define, but in the next few days the player will arrive in Italy."
