Samuel Eto'o believes Inter Milan are genuine contenders to win this season's UEFA Champions League after their elimination of Chelsea.
Jose Mourinho's return to Stamford Bridge saw Inter put in an almost perfect away performance, as they dominated possession before Eto'o's late goal secured a 1-0 win on the night, which saw them progress 3-1 on aggregate.
Inter have never really been considered genuine contenders to lift Europe's premier prize but their defeat of Chelsea will make the rest of the football world sit up and take notice.
Eto'o, who operated in an unfamiliar wide role in a 4-2-1-3 formation, says he was more than happy to play out of position for the good of the team.
"Inter are a great side of champions and when we play at the level we did tonight, we can win in any stadium," he said.
"The coach told me two days ago I would be playing in that position.
"It is a sacrifice for the team that I must make and we are all very happy."
At the hub of much of what was good about Inter was Dutch schemer Wesley Sneijder. The diminutive playmaker was the architect of Eto'o's goal with a sublime through ball, which his team-mate was quick to praise.
He said: "Wesley is a very important player. He put two balls there for me. I made a bad decision on the first one, but with the second I just had to put it in the back of the net."
