The 21-year-old, who currently plays in his homeland for Arsenal de Sarandi, is set to move to the Estadio da Luz for a reported fee of €5.5million. Jara, an Argentina international, could make the squad for the World Cup in the summer and is regarded as a hot prospect for the future. He said: "I am very happy for this transfer to Benfica. This is a new beginning in my career and it's very important to play for such an important European team. "Since I was a child I have dreamt of playing in Europe so that's why I am very happy this is happening." Meanwhile, reports in Italy have suggested that Inter Milan are considering a summer swoop for Benfica midfielder Ramires. The 23-year-old is reportedly admired by Inter boss Jose Mourinho, and the Portuguese tactician is rumoured to be considering an offer of €20million for the player, with Ricardo Quaresma going the other way.
