Inter chief refuses to rule out move for Reds ace

Inter Milan captain Javier Zanetti hopes Javier Mascherano will join him at the San Siro. European champions Inter are believed to have made Mascherano one of their top summer transfer targets with Rafa Benitez keen to be reunited with the Liverpool midfielder. Zanetti is a big admirer of fellow Argentine Mascherano and believes he would be an idea signing for Inter. "Mascherano? He's a great player, which retrieves a lot of balls. He would suit to Inter," Zanetti told Sky Italia. Inter's sporting director, Marco Branca, has refused to rule out a move for Mascherano, insisting Benitez will make the final decision on any signings. "I can say that he is a great player," Branca told Sky Italia. "There are good players that we can take and others that cannot be taken... It depends from the requests of the clubs. "Mascherano and Cambiasso together? From a technical standpoint, the coach must give the answer. "What does Benitez think about it? I didn't ask him..."
