Inter skipper hopes to one day play with compatriot at club level
Javier Zanetti has admitted he would love Lionel Messi to join Inter Milan but does not expect his compatriot to leave Barcelona.
Messi has made it clear that he is happy at Camp Nou and intends to stay for many years, but reports in Italy have suggested both Inter and AC Milan could make ambitious moves for the Argentina superstar.
Zanetti would like nothing more than to play with Messi at club level as well as internationally but recognises that in all likelihood the Barca man will not be going anywhere in the near future.
"Leo right now is fine at Barcelona. He is the best in the world and everyone wants him on their team," Zanetti told
La Gazzetta dello Sport.
"For now he will stay at Barcelona, but in the future you never know.
"Are Inter his first alternative? I hope there is this possibility.
"I did not meet Leo when he came to Milan, I know he was here for an advertising contract. But I know he likes Milan."
