Sunderland target asks for move

Inter Milan have confirmed Sunderland target Sulley Muntari has handed in a transfer request at the San Siro. Sunderland have expressed an interest in signing the former Portsmouth man on loan as Steve Bruce looks to add to his midfield options before the close of the transfer window. Muntari has struggled to hold down a regular place in the Inter side this season with most of his 12 appearances coming from the bench. A number of clubs are thought to be keen on signing the Ghana international and the 26-year-old is now hoping to force through a move away from the UEFA Champions League holders. Inter technical director Marco Branca has confirmed Muntari has asked the club to leave. "He [Muntari] has made himself available to leave as long as a team wants him and is interested in him," Branca told Sky Italia. "He is a lad who is close to us, he is a good person, even though he expresses opinions of someone who wants to play."
