ROMA SET SIGHTS ON DIANA

JUST weeks after clinching the Italian championship, Roma are set to enter another battle with Scudetto runners-up Juventus with Brescia defender Aimo Diana at the centre of this war.

Highly-rated Diana has long been linked with a move to the Stadio Delle Alpi but as yet the Bianconeri have not made a firm offer for the 23-year-old and now Roma are hoping to steal a march on their rivals.

Diana is understood to crave a move away from his hometown club in order to enhance his chances of an international call-up and boost his hopes of making next summer's World Cup finals.

Brescia, who previously stated that only one of either Diana or 20-year-old Daniele Bonera would leave, want around £8 million for the player.

They are also interested in securing the services of Juventus midfielder Jonathan Bachini. The 26-year-old spent the second half of last season at Brescia and is understood to be keen on remaining with Carlo Mazzone's team.

Roma recently sold defender Jonathan Zebina to Atalanta and, although the Giallorossi have already defensively reinforced with the free capture of Sebastian Siviglia, Fabio Capello (pictured) is desperate to strengthen his squad with the Champions League and another Scudetto in his sights next season.

And as the champions prepare a bid for Diana, it seems Juventus are already lining up Atalanta's Damiano Zenoni as a second option should they lose out to Roma a second time.
