Christian Wilhelmsson was happy to make his Roma debut as a late substitute against Messina.

The Swedish winger linked up with the Serie A side earlier this month in a loan deal from Nantes, which could become permanent in the summer.

He was on the bench for Roma's first game of the New Year on Sunday and replaced Rodrigo Taddei with 10 minutes remaining.

Though the Giallorossi conceded a last-minute equaliser, Wilhelmsson was pleased with his first impressions of his new club.

"I am positively surprised by everything," Wilhelmsson told Sportbladet.

"The guys are fantastic, nice and generous. They are doing all they can to give me a good reception."
