Defender suffers cruciate knee ligament problem
Roma defender Philippe Mexes has been ruled out for rest of the season after suffering a serious knee injury.
Mexes suffered the injury in Sunday's 2-0 home defeat by Juventus and scans have confirmed he has sustained a tear to his cruciate ligament problem.
The injury is likely to sideline Mexes for up to six months meaning he will also miss France's Euro 2012 qualfier against Belarus on 3rd June.
The news is a blow to Roma as they look to finish the season on a high and claim a European spot in Serie A.
The injury could mean Mexes has played his last game for Roma with the centre-back out of contract in the summer and he has been tipped with a move away from the Stadio Olimpico.
