Roma full-back could be set to make Premier League return

Sky Sports sources understand that Fulham have agreed a fee with Roma to sign John Arne Riise. Skysports.com reported on Tuesday that the Cottagers were lining up a move to bring the former Liverpool defender back to the Premier League. Fulham boss Martin Jol is in the market for a new left-back with Mexico international Carlos Salcido expected to leave Craven Cottage as he is homesick. Riise is entering the final year of his contract and Roma are expected to sell the 30-year-old full-back this summer rather than let him leave on a free transfer at the end of next season.

Liverpool spell

The Norway international almost joined Fulham from Monaco in 2000 before signing for Liverpool a year later and he enjoyed seven successful seasons at Anfield. Riise won the UEFA Champions League, FA Cup and League Cup with the Reds before opting to try his luck in Italy but he is believed to be ready for a return to England. Should he make the move to Fulham then he will link up with his younger brother, Bjorn Helge, who finished last season on loan at Sheffield United.
