Maicon has signed a one-year contract extension with Roma, with the full-back 'honoured' to commit to the Serie A side.
The 33-year-old Brazil international's contract was due to expire at the end of the current Serie A season, but on Monday he agreed terms to stay at the Stadio Olimpico until June 2016.
Both parties have the option of extending the deal a further year should they choose to do so.
"AS Roma announces that it has signed an agreement with Maicon Douglas Sisenando for the extension of his contract, which was due to expire June 30, 2015,'' a statement on Roma's website said.
"The new agreement has a deadline of June 30, 2016 , with an option for a further season.''
Maicon added: "I'm proud to go on wearing these colours for many years to come.
"It's a great honour and now it's down to me to perform.''
Maicon joined Roma ahead of the 2013-14 Serie A campaign after spending the previous season with Manchester City. He made 28 Serie A appearances last season as Rudi Garcia's side finished runners-up to Juventus.
Prior to his stint in England he spent six successful years at Inter Milan, where he won four successive Scudettos and the 2010 Champions League.
Maicon has 76 international caps and was part of Luiz Felipe Scolari's Brazil squad that reached the semi-finals of the 2014 World Cup.
