Lazio have confirmed the appointment of former Napoli boss Edy Reja following the sacking of Davide Ballardini.
Ballardini had been under immense pressure following last weekend's 1-0 defeat to Catania that dropped Lazio into the relegation drop zone.
Reja confirmed he was ready to leave Hajduk Spit to take charge of Lazio and he will be given the task of saving them from relegation.
A statement from the club read: "SS Lazio announces that it has sacked coach Davide Ballardini and his staff.
"Coach Edoardo Reja has taken over the team."
Reja, who is set to pen a contract with Lazio until June 2011, will take charge of the side for the first time against Parma this weekend.
