Serie A club close to signing young striker
Lazio have almost completed the signing of striker Robert Acquafresca, according to Genoa.
The 22-year-old, who arrived at Genoa in 2009 but spent last season on loan with Atalanta, has been strongly linked with a move to the Rome club.
And Genoa president Enrico Preziosi says the two outfits have reached an agreement, and all that remains to be settled are personal terms between the player and Lazio.
"We reached an agreement with Lazio for (the transfer of) Acquafresca and I had no doubt that everything would be fine," Preziosi told
lalaziosiamonoi.it.
"To us Robert can move to Rome, and now lacks only the agreement between Lazio and the player."
Acquafresca dismissed rumours that he has refused to play for Lazio, and ruled out a return to former club Cagliari.
Unfounded
"At this moment I don't want to, and I cannot, speak on this matter, but I want to deny that I have refused to play in Lazio and in Napoli," said Acquafresca.
"They are all unfounded reports and I don't understand why they have been circulated.
"I was also told that my intention would be to return to Cagliari because my girlfriend lives there, but it is not true: where I go, she goes.
"I would have no problem playing with Lazio, but I'm still awaiting news."
