French forward Djibril Cisse will only join Lazio if a striker leaves the Stadio Olimpico this summer.
Discussions have taken place with Panathinaikos regarding the former Liverpool player and it has been reported the Greek club want to reduce their wage bill.
Cisse is under contract until the summer of 2013, but he is reported to be one of the highest earners and Panathinaikos are willing to listen to offers.
Lazio are interested, however, they would only have room if the likes of rumoured Parma target Sergio Floccari were to leave Rome.
"He will only arrive if one of our strikers leaves," Lazio president Claudio Lotito told
Corriere dello Sport.
"We have seven strikers in our team so he would be a replacement if one of them leaves."
