Striker plans to hang up his boots when he reaches ages of 33
Zlatan Ibrahimovic has announced he plans to end his career with AC Milan and will hang up his boots at the age of 33.
The Sweden international, who turns 30 in October, is currently on a season-long loan deal with the Rossoneri after falling out of favour with Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola.
Milan have the option to make the deal permanent at the end of the campaign and it seems highly unlikely that the outspoken forward will be making a return to Camp Nou.
Ibrahimovic, who has the opportunity to claim a third successive title with three different teams this year following his successes with Inter Milan and Barca, clearly has his heart set on remaining at the San Siro.
He told
La Gazzetta dello Sport: "AC Milan will be my last team. After 33 years, I think I'll stop. I don't want to keep sweating blood until the end.
"This is a year of construction, because Robinho and I arrived in the summer, while Van Bommel and Cassano came in January.
"We have to win this year, but next season AC Milan can win everything."
Number one
Milan may be riding high at the top of the Serie A table with a five-point cushion over defending champions Inter, but they face an early exit from the UEFA Champions League.
Tottenham hold a 1-0 lead over Massimiliano Allegri's men going into the second leg of their last-16 showdown at White Hart Lane on Wednesday, but Ibrahimovic believes the tables can be turned.
He added: "We have many chances against Tottenham, it is important not to repeat the mistakes of the first match."
Despite never having been named the finest player on the planet, Ibrahimovic still rates himself among the elite and makes no apologies for his self-confidence.
"I'm number one, if you think you are the second it's the end," he stated.
"Even if you have never won the Ballon d'Or and Fifa World Player doesn't mean that you cannot be number one."
