Milan defender plans to make decision in summer

AC Milan defender Alessandro Nesta has admitted he will have to decide at the end of the season whether to carry on playing. Nesta was forced to retire from international football after Italy's 2006 World Cup triumph due to persistent injuries. Focusing on club matters has helped prolong a distinguished career, even though physical problems have continued to test the 35-year-old's resolve. He maintains that he still loves the game, but recognises that it could soon be time to hang up his boots. "My career? I'm almost at the end," Nesta, who has had 12 operations in total, told Sport Mediaset.

Serenity

"We must be honest and evaluate the physical condition. The knee injury suffered one year ago has given me trouble again recently. "We will decide at the end of the season what to do. "I live with serenity because football has given me so much and I have fulfilled all my career goals. "What could push me to stay? Let's see what happens in the coming months. "There is no problem. I like to play and I would do all my life, however it seems to me difficult that I can play up to 40 years like Paolo Maldini."
