The visitors stunned the home side seven minutes after the break when Abel Hernandez found the net from an acute angle.
Urby Emanuelson came off the bench to grab an equaliser for Milan 14 minutes from time after being set up by Ibrahimovic.
The draw leaves the second leg delicately poised ahead of the return game next month in Sicily.
