AC Milan captain Massimo Ambrosini has become the latest player to sign a new contract with the Serie A champions.
The midfielder has agreed a one-year extension at the San Siro to replace his previous terms, which were due to expire this summer.
Ambrosini, 33, follows Alessandro Nesta, Filippo Inzaghi, Falvio Roma, Mark van Bommel and Thiago Silva in committing his future to Milan.
A short statement on the club's
official website read: "AC Milan announce that Massimo Ambrosini has extended his deal until June 30th 2012."
Ambrosini joined Milan in 1995 and has made more than 300 appearances for the club.
Big coup
Meanwhile, striker Alexandre Pato has indicated that he sees his long-term future with Milan.
The Brazilian told
La Gazzetta dello Sport: "I want to stay here and become an icon of AC Milan like (Paolo) Maldini."
Milan are expected to be busy in the summer, as they prepare for an improved challenge in the UEFA Champions League.
And agent Mino Raiola, who represents the likes of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, claims he has spent the past five months preparing for a major signing.
Raiola told
Sky Italia: "I have been working since January on Milan's big coup.
"I hope to be able to do it before 30th August. Who is it? Maybe I will tell you on 29th August."
