Thigh strain to keep Milan defender sidelined for a month
AC Milan have confirmed that the injury sustained by Alessandro Nesta in midweek is to keep him sidelined until January.
The experienced centre-half pulled a thigh muscle during Milan's 3-2 defeat to Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday.
The 35-year-old remains a key part of the Rossoneri's plans and his absence at the heart of their back four will be keenly felt.
Milan are hoping the World Cup winner will not be out for long, but have revealed that he is facing up to a month on the treatment table.
He would then have to work his way back to full fitness, meaning it is likely to be 2012 before Nesta is seen again.
"AC Milan wishes to communicate that Alessandro Nesta underwent medical tests today (Friday) which revealed a pulled muscle in his upper thigh," read a statement released by the Serie A giants on their
official website.
"It is estimated that the player will be out for a month."
