Milan close on Juve with victory over Novara

AC Milan kept up the pressure on leaders Juventus with a 3-0 win at Novara to close the gap to one point at the top of the table. After a goalless first half, Zlatan Ibrahimovic broke the deadlock for the Rossoneri on 57 minutes and Robinho doubled the lead on 74 minutes. Ibrahimovic completed the win with a third goal in the final minute to leave Novara rooted to the foot of the table. Giampaolo Pazzini scored a controversial winner as Inter Milan came from behind to beat Lazio 2-1 and move above their opponents into fourth place. Tommaso Rocchi put the visitors in front after half an hour, but Diego Milito levelled just before the interval. Pazzini then scored when he should have been flagged for offside in the 63rd minute to earn the Nerazzurri victory, with a seventh straight Serie A win putting them just three points behind third-placed Udinese. Udinese kept up the chase of the top two with a 2-1 win over Catania at the Stadio Friuli. Pablo Armero put the hosts in front in the 20th minute and their top scorer Antonio Di Natale got his name on the scoresheet once again to make it 2-0 in the 53rd minute. Francesco Lodi grabbed a consolation for Catania in the fifth minute of stoppage time from the penalty spot, but it too little too late for the visitors.

Late goal

Goran Pandev's late goal rescued Napoli in a 1-1 draw at struggling Siena. Siena looked to be heading for a vital win when Emanuele Calaio fired the home side in front and then Siena goalkeeper Gianluca Pegolo saved Edinson Cavani's penalty. However, Pandev popped up with the equaliser four minutes from time to earn Napoli a point. Palermo got the better of Genoa after an eight-goal thriller in Sicily. Rodrigo Palacio gave Genoa the lead on 14 minutes, but three goals from Igor Budan (26), Matias Silvestre (37) and Andrea Mantovani (42) turned the game in Palermo's favour. Palacio pulled a goal back from the penalty spot just before the hour mark, but Fabrizio Miccoli (75) and, Giulio Migliaccio (84) put the game beyond Genoa with Bosko Jankovic (89) netting a late consolation for Genoa. Lecce came from two goals down to earn a 2-2 draw with Chievo. Alberto Paloschi put Chievo in firm control with two goals inside the opening 25 minutes. Lecce reduced the arrears on the half hour mark and David Di Michele grabbed the equaliser three minutes into stoppage time. Cagliari and Fiorentina played out an uninspiring goalless draw in their mid-table Serie A battle at the Stadio Sant' Elia. Bologna and Parma were forced to share the spoils after a goalless draw in the Emilia-Romagna derby at the Stadio Dall'Ara.
