Milan miss out, Milito's four-goal haul not enough for Inter

AC Milan missed the chance to go top of Serie A after going down 2-0 to Lazio at the Stadio Olimpico. Late goals from Hernanes (76) and Tommaso Rocchi (85) were enough to give Lazio all three points. Udinese closed the gap on the top two with a 2-1 victory over struggling Lecce. The home side got off to a flying start when Michele Pazienza fired them in front after just two minutes, but David Di Michele drew Lecce level on 26 minutes. Ten minutes later top scorer Antonio Di Natale hit the winner for Udinese. Cagliari picked up an impressive 4-2 win over Roma to climb further away from trouble. Cardoso Thiago gave Cagliari the lead after just six minutes, but Roma turned the game on its head with two goals from Juan (13) and Fabio Borini (34). Mauricio Pinalla equalised for Cagliari four minutes before the break and Thiago netted his second of the contest on 48 minutes to give the home side the lead. Albin Ekdal sealed the win for Cagliari with a fourth goal deep into stoppage time. Diego Milito scored four goals for Inter Milan, but it was not enough as Inter Milan were held to a stunning 4-4 draw by Palermo for whom Fabrizio Miccoli hit a hat-trick at the San Siro. Andrea Mantovani broke the deadlock for Palermo on 16 minutes, but Milito drew Inter level on 22 minutes. Miccoli restored Palermo's lead on 52 minutes only for Milito to equalise for a second time from the penalty spot three minutes later. Milito gave Inter the lead for the first time on 61 minutes, only for Miccoli to equalise five minutes later. Argentine ace Milito grabbed his fourth goal of the game on 68 minutes, but Miccoli denied Milito and Inter five minutes from time as he completed his treble. Napoli's recent poor of form continued after they were held to a goalless draw by struggling Cesena at the San Paolo. Three games were postponed due to the cold snap in Italy. Atalanta's home clash with Genoa, Fiorentina's trip to Bologna and Siena's tie with Catania were all called off because of the freezing temperatures and snow.
