Experienced midfielder could head home as a free agent

Mark van Bommel admits there is a good chance he will return to PSV Eindhoven to take in a second spell with the club this summer. The 34-year-old midfielder is entering the final months of his contract at AC Milan and will become a free agent at the end of the season. The Rossoneri have made it clear that they will not be discussing extensions with any of their out of contract stars until the summer, with their focus locked on Serie A and UEFA Champions League title quests. It is expected that Van Bommel will be among those allowed to move on, paving the way for him to head back to his native Holland.

Options

A switch to PSV appears to be the most likely scenario, as the Dutchman admits he would welcome the opportunity to re-join a club he spent six successful years at between 1999 and 2005. "I have got several options, but for me there are just two serious options: AC Milan and PSV," Van Bommel told NOS. "How big is the chance that I return to PSV? There is a chance, yes." Van Bommel's agent has already revealed that his client would be willing to take a pay cut in order to return to the Philips Stadion.
