Serie A Round-Up

Juventus started 2006 with a 2-1 victory over Palermo in Sicily on Saturday evening.

It was Palermo that took an early lead through Christian Terlizzi, but Romanian hit-man Adrian Mutu restored parity four minutes later.

The former Chelsea striker claimed Juve the points with the winner on 33 minutes at La Favorita.

The result took the Turin club's lead over second place Internazionale to 11 points.

Fiorentina missed the chance to move into second in Serie A after a 1-1 draw at Reggina.

Alessandro Lucarelli gave Reggina the lead on 12 minutes in the first match Serie A conrtest of 2006.

The home side's lead lasted just a minute, as Martin Jorgensen equalised for the Viola at Stadio Oreste Granillo.

The early goals proved decisive in the end, as both sides started the New Year with a draw.

Saturday's late match sees leaders Juventus head to Sicily to face Palermo.
