Zamparini eager for Sheikh to back Rosanero
Palermo owner Maurizio Zamparini is hoping to take the Serie A club to a new level by securing investment from Saudi Arabia.
Zamparini is meeting with Sheikh Abdul Mohsen Bin Abdul Aziz Alhokair and believes his good friend will be interested in getting involved with the club.
The Palermo supremo has seen numerous foreign investors plough their money into England's Premier League and sees no reason why Italy cannot attract that level of investment.
Zamparini believes that with the Sheikh on board that Palermo could soon be vying with the likes of Inter Milan, Napoli, AC Milan and Lazio for the Serie A title.
"Soon I will go to Riyad to talk with my friend the Arab prince (Abdul Mohsen Bin Abdul Aziz Alhokair, leader of the Al Hokair group) to try to involve him in Palermo," he told
Le Sicilia.
"If I succeed, then we could talk about the Scudetto. He's a football fan and I hope to really involve him.
"I don't understand why everyone is drawn by England football and we cannot try to involve important foreign investors in our football."
Meanwhile, Zamparini has rejected talk the club could cash in on prized asset Javier Pastore, who has been attracting interest from the likes of Real Madrid and Barcelona.
Barca are believed to have tabled a €40million for the Argentine starlet, although Zamparini is refusing to be drawn on the subject having previous shunned Real.
"An offer from Barcelona of €40million for Pastore?" he added in
Gazzetta dello Sport. "I don't want to think about it and I have already rejected €25million from Real Madrid."
