Palermo president reassures fans coach Mutti will not be sacked

Palermo president Maurizio Zamparini has reassured fans coach Bortolo Mutti will not be sacked after just three games in charge. The Serie A outfit have taken just one point in the three outings under Mutti and lost 1-0 at Chievo on Sunday to sit 14th in the table, six points above the drop zone. Zamparini has already fired two coaches this season, with Stefano Poli sacked at the end of August following elimination in the Europa League qualifiers by Swiss side FC Thun. Former youth-team coach Devis Mangia was then fired in December even though his contract had only just been extended and Zamparini had predicted his long stay at the club. But the Palermo president has reassured fans Mutti is not to be sacked, saying: "The supporters can rest assured that I'm not sending him away. "I saw a good performance against Chievo but you need to score goals to get points."
