Lobont to prove his worth
Bogdan Lobont has revealed he had no hesitation in answering Fiorentina's call.
Bogdan Lobont has revealed he had no hesitation in answering Fiorentina's call for a new goalkeeper.
A season-ending injury to first choice Sebastien Frey forced the Viola to scour the market in their search for a capable replacement.
The likes of Carlo Cudicini - who has since committed his future to Chelsea - and Francesco Toldo were linked with a switch to the Tuscan outfit before Lobont made the move from Ajax.
The signing of the Romanian international on a four-and-a-half year contract was met with surprise by many supporters who anticipated a more high-profile signing.
Lobont is determined to win over the doubters, however, after clinching a move to what he describes as the most challenging league in the world.
"Everybody knows Italian football and they know this is the most beautiful and most difficult league in the world," said Lobont.
"For me it has always been a dream playing here and as soon as I had the opportunity I wanted to come.
"It is up to me to perform well in training and then the coach [Cesare Prandelli] will decide who will play in goal. Replacing Frey will be a big responsibility."
