Sampdoria booked their place back in Serie A after coming through the promotion play-offs.
The Genoa-based side beat Varese 1-0 on Saturday which gave them a 4-2 aggregate success.
They are now promoted to Serie A alongside top two Pescara and Torino.
Sampdoria coach Giuseppe Iachini dedicated his side's victory to their fans.
"It has never happened before that the team who finished sixth wins the play offs," Iachini said on the club's website.
"I am so happy for our fans, because it gives us a beautiful satisfaction to turn around a difficult situation."
