Lazio held as Inter lose again

Second placed Lazio missed the chance to move back to within a point of leaders AC Milan in Serie A, after they were held to a 1-1 draw at Parma. Champions Inter Milan's faltering season continued as they were beaten 2-1 at Chievo Verona, while Napoli climbed the table after beating Bologna. With Milan winning on Saturday, Lazio were looking to keep up the pressure - but they failed to get maximum points at the Ennio Tardini. Parma went ahead through veteran Argentine Hernan Crespo, but Lazio levelled on the stroke of half-time through Sergio Floccari. Inter lost their second successive match as they went down 2-1 to Chievo. The Flying Donkeys took control with a goal in each half from Sergio Pellissier and Davide Moscardelli, before Samuel Eto'o grabbed an injury-time consolation. Napoli climbed into third in the standings with a decisive 4-1 triumph over struggling Bologna. Marek Hamsik notched a brace for the hosts to inspire the triumph, with Christian Maggio and Edinson Cavani also finding the back of the net as Riccardo Meggiorini grabbed the consolation strike for the visitors. The early match of Sunday saw Juventus clinch a 2-0 win over Genoa. Both goals arrived in the first half as Eduardo put through his own net before Milos Krasic pounced.

Hat-trick

Giampaolo Pazzini grabbed a hat-trick to give Sampdoria a 3-2 win at Lecce. Pazzini struck twice to make it 2-0 at the break before Lecce, who had Ernesto Chevanton sent off in the first-half, battled back to level through David Di Michele and Souleymane Diamoutene. But Pazzini made sure of the win as he scored his third with just two minutes remaining. The bottom three remains Brescia, Cesena and Bari as they all slumped to defeat. Brescia took the lead at home to Cagliari, but could not hang on as they lost 2-1. Andrea Caracciolo's penalty put them ahead, but goals from Alessandro Matri and Daniele Conti won the match for the Sardinians. Cesena came up short against Palermo as they lost 2-1 at home. Josip Ilici gave the Sicily outfit the lead early on but Erjon Bogdani levelled for Cesena. The winner came early in the second-half when Fabrizio Miccoli pounced. Bottom of the table Bari were 1-0 losers at 10-man Catania. Maxi Lopez was red-carded with 10 minutes left, but despite being a man down, Catania were still able to win with Christian Terlizzi grabbing the goal.
