Milan, Napoli and Lazio win as Juve and Roma lose away from home

AC Milan kept their Serie A title bid on track with victory at Chievo Verona as Roma's dramatic collapse led to Claudio Ranieri handing in his resignation. Lazio remain in the race for the scudetto after edging out Bari, as do Napoli, but 10-man Juventus suffered a disappointing defeat away from home. Leaders Milan continued their quest to replace city rivals Inter as champions after substitute Alexandre Pato's late goal secured a 2-1 success at Chievo. Brazilian forward Robinho gave Milan the lead midway through the first half, but Chievo levelled on 61 minutes through former Manchester City midfielder Gelson Fernandes. However, Pato struck decisively for the Rossoneri eight minutes from time and Chievo then saw Bostjan Cesar sent off for a second bookable offence. Napoli secured a third straight win to remain hot on Milan's heels, three points off the pace. Juan Camilo Zuniga grabbed the only of the game after 25 minutes at San Paulo to hand them a narrow 1-0 victory over lowly Catania. Roma threw away a three-goal lead to lose 4-3 away to Genoa and leave Ranieri's job seemingly hanging by a thread. Philippe Mexes and Nicolas Burdisso had Roma in command inside 20 minutes and, after Marco Borriello had struck the post, Francesco Totti scored a third on 51 minutes. But, within a minute, Rodrigo Palacio had pulled a goal back for Genoa and substitute Alberto Paloschi notched another on 68 minutes. Palacio drew Genoa level on 74 minutes and the scintillating comeback was completed when Paloschi grabbed the winner with five minutes to go before the hosts had Rafinha sent off in injury-time. Hernanes scored the only goal of the game after just six minutes as Lazio overcame bottom club Bari 1-0 at Stadio Olimpico. Lecce boosted their survival hopes and put a dent in Juventus' Champions League bid in the process after a 2-0 home win over their 10-man visitors. Juve had goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon sent off after just 12 minutes for deliberate handball before Lecce made the breakthrough just past the half-hour mark through Djamel Mesbah. Andrea Bertolacci double the lead early in the second half and, though Lecce had Giuseppe Vives dismissed for two bookings in as many minutes, Juve were unable to offer a response. Udinese's European push was frustrated by a 0-0 draw at home with lowly Brescia, while Fiorentina and Sampdoria also played out a 0-0 stalemate. Parma, meanwhile, were twice forced to come from behind to salvage a 2-2 draw at home to second-from-bottom Cesena. Alessandro Rosina gave Cesena a 31st minute lead, but Hernan Crespo levelled from the penalty spot on 64 minutes after Amauri had been fouled. Paolo Sammarco restored Cesena's advantage on 79 minutes only for substitute Raffaelle Palladino to make an immediate impact by salvaging a point for Parma with the equaliser six minutes from time.
