Newly-promoted Novara have signed Japanese striker Takayuki Morimoto from Serie A rivals Catania.
The 23-year-old joined Catania in 2006 and showed promise during his first couple of seasons at the club.
He was briefly linked with a move to Manchester United in 2009 but a string of injuries and poor form saw his star wane considerably in the following years.
After managing only 12 appearances for Catania last term, Morimoto publicly announced he was looking to leave the club this summer despite the arrival of new head coach Vincenzo Montella.
Details of the deal have not been disclosed, but reports suggest a transfer fee of around €2 million (£1.8m) has changed hands.
Catania confirmed in a statement on Monday: "Calcio Catania have sold Takayuki Morimoto to Novara Calcio on a co-ownership deal."
