Milan sign Greek keeper

Milan have surprisingly brought in Dimitrios Eleftheropoulos from Messina.

Milan have surprisingly brought in goalkeeper Dimitrios Eleftheropoulos from Messina.

The Rossoneri have moved for the Greek shot-stopper after loaning out Christian Abbiati to Genoa.

Carlo Ancelotti had been looking for a replacement for Abbiati to ensure he had sufficient cover for number one Dida.

Perugia's Australian international Zeljko Kalac was also under consideration but Ancelotti has plumped for Eleftheropoulos.

The 28-year-old has signed a 12-month deal with Milan after spending last season gaining experience in Italy with Messina.

The former Olympiakos custodian is unlikely to see much first-team action at San Siro but will prove to be a useful back-up to Dida.
