Arguments at Ascoli

Ascoli's Marco Giampaolo is at odds with president Robert Benigni.

A fall out between coach Marco Giampaolo and president Robert Benigni has mitigated some of the joy at Ascoli's unexpected promotion to the top flight.

Ascoli were one of the teams that took advantage of Genoa and Torino's exclusion from the top flight and will play amongst the giants of Italian football next season.

However, the club have been rocked by stories that coach Giampaolo walked out of training on Friday because no efforts had been made to bring in the players that he has asked for.

President Benigni confirmed that there had been a disagreement, but insisted that it just showed the passion within the club.

"There are discussions ongoing with Giampaolo but I don't see it as a major issue," said Benigni.

"It's a quarrel that can only be positive because it opens out the issues between us and there is already a basis of respect and esteem.

"Moreover, the final aim is Ascoli's good. The club is working to strengthen the team as the coach wants."
