Bundesliga round-up: Bayern Munich stay second as Borussia Dortmund suffer defeat

Bayern Munich bounced back from defeat to Borussia Dortmund a week ago with a 2-1 win at Bayer Leverkusen to stay second in the Bundesliga.

Thiago Alcantara and Mats Hummels scored the goals for Bayern, who also lost to Rostov in the Champions League in midweek.

Hakan Calhanoglu's goal was not enough for a spirited Leverkusen, who left the Allianz Arena empty-handed and stuck in mid-table.

Dortmund suffered a hangover from that win over Bayern by going down 2-1 at Eintracht Frankfurt, seeing their deficit on their rivals restored to six points as a result.

Szabolcs Huszti and Haris Seferovic scored for the Eagles, who soared three points above their opponents and into third place, three points behind Bayern.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was on target once again for Dortmund, who created plenty of chances to win the game but came away from the Waldstadion empty-handed.

Ingolstadt also created enough chances to win not just one but several Bundesliga matches, but they were held to a 1-1 draw by Wolfsburg.

Anthony Jung's goal was cancelled out by Daniel Caligiuri, but Wolfsburg goalkeeper Diego Benaglio was man of the match in Bavaria, where the woodwork also denied Ingolstadt what would have been a second straight victory.

Hamburg are still waiting for their first win of the season after they could only manage a 2-2 draw in a northern Germany derby with Werder Bremen.

Michael Gregoritsch's goals were not enough to earn Markus Gisdol his first win since taking charge of the club as Fin Bartels and Serge Gnabry earned Valerien Ismael's Wolves a draw.

That was also the outcome in Saturday's other two Bundesliga fixtures, with Cologne and Augsburg in a stalemate at the Mungersdorferstadion and Borussia Monchengladbach held to a 1-1 draw at home to Hoffenheim.

Mahmoud Dahoud's first goal of the season gave Gladbach the lead, but Nediem Amiri levelled to ensure Hoffenheim's unbeaten record this season is still intact after 12 games.
