Coach claims striker's behaviour was unacceptable
Cologne have suspended striker Adil Chihi from first-team training sessions for improper behaviour.
The Moroccan international has been ordered to train with the Under 23 squad by head coach Frank Schaefer for arguing with his team-mates during a training session on Tuesday.
The 22-year-old's current deal at the Rhein Energie Stadion runs out at the end of this season and the player has yet to agree to a new four-year-deal offered by the club in recent weeks.
Chihi, who has scored four goals in 34 Bundesliga matches for the club, has been recovering from a torn Achilles tendon.
"I was left with no choice," Schaefer told the
club's official website.
"Chihi's behaviour was unacceptable; I had to react like this in the interests of the team.
"Adil always has the opportunity, through good performances in training, to get back into the first-team squad."
The player has reportedly been linked with a move to rivals Werder Bremen once his current deal comes to an end.
