Wolfsburg manager Felix Magath has removed Christian Trasch from the role of captain to help him return to his best form.

Captaincy was a burden for him, says Wolves boss Felix Magath

Wolfsburg manager Felix Magath has removed Christian Trasch from the role of captain to help him return to his best form. The 24-year-old Germany international moved to Wolfsburg from Stuttgart last summer and was soon installed as club captain. But the midfielder endured a difficult campaign which resulted in him losing his place in the Germany squad and missing out on Euro 2012. Magath has decided to make a change in the hope of improving another player by handing them the responsibility rather than diminishing the performances of Trasch. "We are to make a change on this," he told kicker-Sportmagazin. "Christian Trasch will not be captain of Wolfsburg this season. "I think for Christian the job of skipper was rather a burden. "And I intend to help a player with the job of skipper. I do not intend to put him under stress with that role."
