Bayern Munich paraded new signing Juan Bernat on Thursday with the Spanish full-back revealing his excitement at working under coach Pep Guardiola.

The 21-year-old left-back was accompanied by his whole family to Bayern's headquarters on Thursday, where he met the German media for the first time and told them of his delight at being able to play for his compatriot.

"I'm a real Pep fan," he said. "I think I can learn a great deal from him.

"He asked me if I would like to join (Bayern) and that was an honour for me."

Bernat took part in his first training session on Thursday after completing a move from Valencia earlier this week.

He did not have a great deal to say, but that reflects the way he is on the field too, according to Bayern's director of sport Matthias Sammer.

"He plays football the same way as he talks - quick, succinct and with substance," Sammer said, adding that he has "not been signed to be a back-up".

That suggests that the man showing him the ropes on his first day in Munich, Rafinha, faces competition for his place next season.

"We hope that he will very soon become an established player with us," Sammer added.
