Hannover have expressed dismay after a document showing they made an official offer for Getafe midfielder Pedro Leon was published in the Spanish press.

The German club made the approach this summer, offering one million euros (£795,000) plus a sell-on arrangement, according to the document.

A move did not materialise, with Hannover instead signing Jimmy Briand from Lyon.

The Bundesliga club are unhappy the approach for Leon has been made public.

"I've never experienced anything like it," Hannover director of sport Dirk Dufner told Bild newspaper.

"We're the victims here and we have been abused. There are no rules for this kind of thing in football.

"Pedro was one of five or six options for the right-hand side of our midfield."

The letter from Hannover to Getafe was published by media including AS, the high-readership sports newspaper.

Leon, 27, has expressed his unhappiness after Getafe club president Angel Torres said there had been no offers for him.

Torres told sports newspaper Marca that Leon had been offered to Olympiakos on loan, but that move did not go through either.
