Bas Dost says he is feeling fitter than ever and hopes to make an impact for Wolfsburg after a summer of transfer speculation.

Dutch striker Dost was linked with a host of clubs in the summer, including Southampton, Swansea City, Newcastle United and Feyenoord, but a move did not materialise.

Dost is now looking to push on and show Wolfsburg that his best is still to come.

Having signed for the club from Heerenveen in 2012, Dost has so far scored 17 goals in 49 appearances, but he believes he is in now better shape after putting a series of fitness problems behind him.

“I am free of any pains for the first time in five to six months, it's simply a great feeling,” he told kicker-Sportmagazin.

“I will be able to do something good for the club and for the team again. I have been at Wolfsburg for two years now, and honestly I have not achieved enough during that spell so far.

“I am out to make things happen. If I am not going to succeed now, then I am never going to succeed.”
