Bundesliga: Borussia Monchengladbach, Freiburg and Paderborn claim wins
Sunday 2 November 2014 20:33, UK
Borussia Monchengladbach moved into a share of second place in the Bundesliga after ending Hoffenheim's unbeaten record with a 3-1 win.
Andre Hahn gave the Foals the lead and Antonio Modeste's reply was cancelled out by Patrick Herrmann's brace as Lucien Favre's men climbed back to within four points of league leaders Bayern Munich.
Gladbach, who drew with Bayern a week ago, were always on top with Hoffenheim having few complaints about their first defeat of the season.
At the other end of the table, Freiburg followed the example of rock-bottom Werder Bremen 24 hours previously by picking up their first win of the season, defeating Cologne 1-0 at the Mungersdorfer Stadion.
Vladimir Darida scored the only goal of the game from the penalty spot as Christian Streich's men moved above Borussia Dortmund in the standings, leaving Jurgen Klopp's men occupying an automatic relegation berth.
In Sunday's other game, Paderborn continued their impressive start to their maiden Bundesliga season, with a deserved 3-1 win over Hertha Berlin taking them up to seventh in the standings.
Marvin Bakalorz, Elias Kachunga and Alban Meha supplied the goals for Andre Breitenreiter's men with Salomon Kalou netting Hertha's consolation at the Paderborn Arena.
