Wolfsburg midfielder Kevin De Bruyne has been fined £15,000 for a foul-mouthed outburst at a ballboy in their Bundesliga game at Eintracht Frankfurt last week, the German Football Association have announced.
The Belgium international, who is in superb form with Wolfsburg second in the league, demanded the ball for a quick throw-in by swearing at the ballboy, which was picked up by stadium microphones.
The incident came late in Wolfsburg's 1-1 draw at Frankfurt, before De Bruyne scored the equalising goal with two minutes remaining.
"The sports court of the DFB has fined Kevin De Bruyne 20,000 euros for unsporting behaviour in the form of extreme sports misconduct," a statement said.
De Bruyne, who has scored six goals in his last five games, has apologised to the ballboy.
